Once a year mowing is carried out to such an extend that the soil remains as poor as possible.

The cemetery grounds lie in what used to be barren dunes. Therefore after mowing all the cut grass is removed – including from between gravestones lying shoulder to shoulder – and dumped on a designated spot in the cemetery and the mowing is carried out with care in order not to scrape the gravestones which surfaces lies in the same level as the soil. Whence the high number of mowing man hours.
